Program Overview

Health law is a dynamic and rapidly growing field, presenting a wide range of practice opportunities and intellectual challenges. The legal issues are increasingly numerous and complex, as regulation of health professionals, institutions and the health care system as a whole continues to intensify. This specialization examines major areas where law and health intersect, including the organization of the Canadian health care system, bioethics, mental health law, professional governance, malpractice, intellectual property, information technology and privacy in health law, human rights and globalization, health facilities law, pharmaceutical regulation, biotechnology and comparative health law.

Who is the Specialization for?

  • Law graduates with legal work experience or a strong demonstrated interest in health law.
  • Professionals without a law degree who have significant related professional experience in the health care sector and wish to develop an advanced knowledge of health law for professional purpose.

Specialization Structure

Designed to meet the needs of working professionals located across Canada and abroad, all courses in this specialization are available via video conferencing and are structured as either weekly evening sessions or 3-5 day intensives.
