Learn how to communicate clearly in writing, while being mindful of the relevant ethical rules and obligations.

The ability to communicate clearly in writing is an essential skill for all legal professionals. In a hands-on and interactive ½ day workshop, learn how to refine all of your writing – from email correspondence and pleadings, to memos and reporting letters. You’ll master clear writing principles and obtain practical tips to better communicate and advocate your position, along with strategies to enhance your understanding of your professional obligations.

  • Learn how to use and understand the differences between various types of writing (ie. legal writing, professional writing, email, etc.)
  • Master issues of audience, purpose and tone in documents and emails
  • Apply clear writing principles in such areas as:
    – paragraph structure
    – sentence structure
    – word choice
    – document design
    – large-scale document organization
  • Recognize and appreciate the professional responsibility issues related to writing, including the Rules of Professional Conduct relating to confidentiality and to conflicts of interest

Due to the nature of the workshop, space is strictly limited. Register today!
