It is projected 25% of the population in Canada will be over the age of 65 by 2041. As a professional who advises or works with elderly clients, or organizations that serve elderly clients, you must have a current and in-depth understanding of not only the issues that are affecting aging clients and their families, but also the resources available to assist them.

Elderly clients present a unique and challenging array of challenges. This session will provide insight on resources available to assist the elderly, along with clarifying processes and eligibility requirements. Topics include:

  • What services are provided and how to determine eligibility?
  • Who makes the determination of eligibility for services and placement?
  • Specialized services provided: Nurse Practitioners Supporting Team Averting Transfers (NPSTAT), Rapid Response Nurses (RRN) and Mental Health and Addiction Nurses (MHAN)
  • When and how to refer to the CCAC for services or LTC application
  • Placement to LTC overview- understanding the process
