Julia McNally

JULIA MCNALLY is the Director, Strategic Engagement and Innovation at the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO). She is responsible for community engagement, government affairs, customer response and innovation support. Prior to the amalgamation of the IESO and Ontario Power Authority (OPA), Ms. McNally worked in the Conservation division of the OPA with a focus on Market Transformation. She is an Adjunct Professor of Osgoode Hall Law School of York University, and co-director of the Energy and Infrastructure LLM program.

Ms. McNally holds an LLB from The University of Toronto and an LLM from Cambridge University in the UK. She practiced administrative law for 14 years, was the Program Director of the Tenant Duty Counsel Program, and worked with the Low Income Energy Network.

The IESO manages the province’s power system so that Ontarians receive power when and where they need it. It plans and prepares for future electricity needs, and works with its partners to guide conservation efforts. On January 1, 2015, the OPA amalgamated with the IESO.
